Sharing is Caring

It looks like we may have the park all to ourselves this year. The kickball schedule says that their season at City of Cuernavaca park ends on May 19th. ...But sharing is caring right?

Game 1 - Berkeley

We're off to a surprising start, with AJ jumping into an early lead. He won not only his game and the poison battle, but he was the first player of the year to claim the "extra points for AJ" point that was just voted in. In addition to AJ, there were a few other fresh faces in the poison battle. John, Boyd, Nick and Doug probably only have a mere 50 years of combined NSCC season between them, so it's no surprise that none of them put up much of a fight. Better luck next week at McDonough, and remember that the bounty on AJ is now in effect.

AJ - 3 points - GW,PB,SM
Boyd - 1 point - GW
Doug - 1 point - GW
Nick - 1 point - GW
John - 1 point - GW

Rule changes

Rules have been updated and posted at nscc.askimbo.com/rules any suggestions for better places to put things?

Any wicket or stake poison killing  - 4.4
Go fuck yourself San Diego - 6.7
New poison battle rules - 7.3-7.7
Rules banquet - 10.7
Shooter McGavin added as section - 11.5

Now shit gets real.

Preseason ended somewhat oddly, with Red winning again, and calling Berkeley again. There is no rule that you can't call a park multiple times, and a park as large as Berkeley could really contain any number of unique game locations, but it was still a call met with a fair amount of derision, especially considering that Red didn't bother to show up the first time he called Berkeley. Since Ed called last night's park and didn't show, does that mean we can expect to have him call it again later in the season? I suppose that's making the bold assumption that Ed might win twice in a season, and that his next pick won't be some bullshit halfway to Pueblo.

Speaking of calling things and then not showing up, both of Brunn's rule proposals (no kick-shot #1 and no kick-shot #2) failed resoundingly (4-16 and 5-15 respectively), but Bergonz's (rules voted on within a week of the season ending(16-4)) and Mike's (poison wicket killing with a steak (16-4)) both passed without the support of their sponsors. The closest vote of the night was on Boyd's "That Game" rule, which failed 9-11, and the biggest margin of the night was the passage of Carly's "Shooter McGavin" rule, which passed 17-2. John's 15 turn shot clock rule failed 15-2. My "Over the Line" (confined area poison battle) passed 14-5, and "Go fuck yourself San Diego" passed 11-4. So in summary...

Passed
All rules made within a week of Wolff Park finale
Any wicket or post, any game
One point for killing everyone in your game
Poison battles in a confined area
Go fuck yourself San Diego

Failed
No kick-shot
Winner calls no kick-shot
Poison drop-ins into "That Game"
15 turn shot clock

The revised rules will all be up on the new web page within a few days, and I'll highlight them or something so that the more litigious among us can bicker about where they best belong. See y'all (that don't have finals) next week for the season opener at Berkeley (East).
